The use of rideshare services has dramatically increased across the United States in recent years. Rideshares are similar to taxis, with one crucial difference: drivers working for rideshare companies use their own cars to transport paying passengers. In effect, anyone who owns a car can work for a rideshare company. Rideshare companies claim that expanding their services brings several important benefits to the cities where they operate.
First, rideshare companies argue that increased use of ride- sharing can reduce traffic in cities. When rides are easily available through rideshare services, city residents are less likely to buy cars. This results in fewer cars on city streets and less congestion throughout these cities. Reducing the amount of traffic on city streets benefits everyone, since it allows people to get to their destinations more quickly.
Moreover, rideshare companies state that they can provide an alternative to public transportation options, such as trains and buses. This is especially important in locations that are far from transit centers or where transit routes do not efficiently connect different parts of a city. People who live in communities with inefficient public transportation systems can have easier commutes if the availability of ride- sharing increases.
Finally, rideshare companies provide a great deal of employment. Tens of thousands of people work for these companies as drivers. If cities allow more cars to be used as rideshares, more jobs will be created. Increasing the amount of transportation available also allows people to work in locations that otherwise might be too distant or costly to commute to. So, ride-sharing improves a city’s job market for both drivers and their passengers.

Let’s consider how schools allocate their funds for various resources, with a focus on the allocation between teacher salaries and other resources such as computers and books. What do you think is the best way for schools to prioritize their spending? Should more funds go towards increasing teacher salaries to attract and retain quality educators, or should they invest more in technology and learning materials like computers and books?
Claire
I think raising teachers’ salaries is crucial because it can encourage people to view teaching as a viable profession rather than pursuing careers in other industries. Additionally, offering competitive wages can attract some of the brightest and most talented individuals to become teachers. When teachers are fairly compensated, it not only motivates them to excel in their roles but also enhances the overall quality of education.

Teacher salaries are already quite competitive, and it may be more prudent to allocate resources toward improving student equipment and providing up – to – date materials. Enhancing the learning environment with better technology and modern educational resources can greatly benefit students’ education.
